I studied piano and harpsichord at the Birmingham School of Music (1975-78), took my PGCertEd diploma at Reading University (1978-9), then returned to Reading to study for the M.Mus degree in Performance (harpsichord, 1987-89).
For nearly thirty years I was based in Oxford, working variously as a teacher, lecturer, performer, composer and writer (articles for various periodicals, music critic on the Oxford Times for fourteen years, etc.). Academic positions include Associate Lecturer in Music, Oxford Polytechnic (1984-88, now Brookes University); Part-time tutor in Music, Oxford University Dept. of Continuing Education, Visiting Tutor in Composition, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
In 2008, I returned to live in Bristol and am now based in Keynsham, midway between Bristol and Bath.
