I have freelanced on the flute and have conducted much modern and contemporary music (including the first performance of Elizabeth Lutyens's last opera, 'Isis and Osiris'. I now mainly compose, writing broadly within a Viennese 12-note tradtion with clear motifs and themes. Compositions performed and/or broadcast in Britain, Austria, Italy, and USA have included two orchestral pieces, a variety of chamber works, including a string quartet (Arditti Quartet and others); solo works for flute, piano, violin, viola; songs; a cantata for baritone, chorus and wind ensemble; a cappella choral pieces, including a recent commission for the BBC Singers.
