After part-time study at the College of Music, Dublin, he obtained grant, sponsorship, and bursary help for continued study in London, basing himself at Morley College. He finally found the teaching he had been searching for when Esther Salaman passed him to "her best pupil", Patricia ONeill. Acting he pursued in termly courses at the City Lit. Peter Gellhorn commented that he is better at warmth than heat, something reflected in his liking for recital in particular. "His languages are so superb!" said Ilse Wolf, adding, "He has the upper overtones just naturally". Michael's opera singing has included Mozart and Verdi roles and has taken in Early Opera and operetta(Falke, Die Fledermaus) His recital giving, in SE England, for music societies, arts centres, and concert series has extended to university, National Trust, BBC Concert Club, and festival engagements. In late 2019 he began some study with Ilona Domnich(interrupted by Corona)
