About me

I am a friendly, experienced and qualified teacher who teaches classical, musical theatre and pop/rock to the same high level of standard. I teach any student of any age or ability right from beginner up to professional. All I require from you is your commitment and enthusiasm!

I offer online, or at my home address, lessons.

I also have a 1st class Bmus (hons) degree in classical singing from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where I studied under a scholarship and before that I trained at the BRIT school of performing arts graduating with a Btec national diploma in music. I also have certificates in Estill Vocal Training, levels 1 and 2 and have completed drama courses at Italia Conti, Rose Bruford and Birmingham University.

I have worked professionally in opera and musical theatre performing roles with English Touring Opera, at the Buxton Opera Festival and with Swansea City Opera. I have also performed the role of Jane Eyre at the Bridewell Theatre, London and played the role of Christine in the Phantom of the Opera, Birmingham Symphony Hall. I have also appeared on BBC 4’s ‘And Now the News’ and Ch4’s ‘Operatunity’ respectively.

I have dedicated myself full-time to teaching singing and piano and recorder since 2008.

My experience includes:

Singing Teacher at: London College of Music, Ravensbourne Academy and Leigh Academy, Gravesend Adult Education Centre, BGM Entertainment, and at the City Literary Institute in Covent Garden where I run the Singing level 2 course and the Sing Music Theatre Workshop on Wednesdays.
Singing and Piano Teacher at: St Joseph's Preparatory School, The Music House for Children and at the Dartford, Gravesend and Bexley Adult Education Centres.
Recorder Ensemble leader at: Langafel Primary School
Music Examiner for: Trinity Rock and Pop conducting exams in singing, keyboard, guitar, bass and drums, nationally and internationally.

I prepare students for exams using the examination boards: ABRSM, LCM, Rock School or Trinity (depending on the individual needs and interests of the student and if they want to take exams).
Students, who wish to pursue singing as a career, have gone on to win places at institutions such as: Mountview, New York Film Academy, Arts Ed, Brit School and Westminster University.
Students have also won places at the National Youth Choir, Durham University choir and the competitive Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir respectively.
Students have worked in the West End (musical theatre and plays) and in opera (Opera North, ETO) and in pop (HRVY from Strictly Come Dancing, Enshar Ghateh from The Voice Kids) and cabaret (Josephine Pembroke)

I also teach Piano and Descant and Treble recorder from beginner-to-intermediate and prepare students for exams if they would like me to (ABRSM for classical piano and Trinity Rock and Pop for pop piano) - and Music theory - up to Grade 5.
