I trained in the National Youth Orchestra of GB, Royal Academy of Music (studying tuba, piano, composition & conducting), and Bretton Hall College of Education (music & primary curriculum). I later gained my Master's in Performance at Reading University, gaining a Distinction in the Public Recital
I have taught piano, brass, composition and conducting in Oxford since 1974 and am one of the longest-established professional musicians in the region, still very active in the orchestral, choral and dance sectors as a tuba player and piano accompanist. I've also been very involved in non-classical musics: I was one of the original members of the Scratch Orchestra, and in the 1980s & 90s I co-wrote, recorded and toured internationally with the legendary Dead Can Dance. I also played extensively with a contemporary jazz 12-piece and a dinner-and-dance sextet
As a composer I have written dozens of scores for the stage and screen, including scores for these major tv documentary series: Horizon, Fragile Earth, Secret History, Inside Story, Dispatches. My own multi-media group, Peacock Epoch, toured the UK on the Regional Contemporary Music Network
I teach only in my own dedicated music space - exactly 3 miles west of Oxford city centre - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There's plenty of free parking and 3 bus-routes stop within 2 mins walk of my front door. I teach on my excellent 6ft 8in (203cm) grand piano. My qualifications are MMus, GRSM (Hons), ARAM, LRAM, ARCM, PGCE, MISM. Please ask for my Prospectus, Timetable and Pupil Achievements
